Profession: Writer Born in 1972, Philippe Vasset has published seven books, all with Fayard, including Un livre Blanc (2007), Journal intime d’un marchand de canons (2010) and La Conjuration (2013). He has collaborated with composer Pierre-Yves Macé (Phonotopies – commissioned by Groupe de Recherche Musicales, 2014) and visual artist Linda Sanchez (14628.JPG, Adera éditions, 2012). Also a journalist, he has conducted investigations for Vanity Fair and Le Nouvel Observateur. Philippe Vasset’s research project at Villa Medici will explore a literary genre that has fallen into disuse : the lives of saints. In particular, he will be looking at the codes and protocols governing hagiography, as well as the investigative methods used to establish the sanctity – or, on the contrary, the damnation – of an individual.
