Biography

Marcella Lista
Period: 2010-2011
Profession: Art historian Marcella Lista’s early research focused on the revival of the total work of art in the years 1908-1914, from the perspective of the visual arts and in particular the relationship between music and abstraction: L’oeuvre d’art totale à la naissance des avant-gardes (éditions de l’INHA, 2006). Her approach to modernity focuses, on the one hand, on an archaeology of new media and their role in the transformation of artistic forms; on the other, on the development of the languages of the body, dance and performance and their importance in the evolution of the visual arts and the discourse on art. She has curated several exhibitions: Sons et Lumières: une histoire du son dans l’art du XXe siècle (Centre Georges Pompidou, 2004, in collaboration with Sophie Duplaix); Corps étrangers: Danse, dessin, film (Musée du Louvre, 2006); Pierre Boulez. OEuvre : Fragment (Musée du Louvre, 2008), and is currently preparing Paul Klee : peinture, musique, modernité (autumn 2011) at the Musée de la musique (Paris). Since 2004, she has been seconded from higher education as head of contemporary art and architecture programming at the Louvre Auditorium. Since October 2011, she has been conducting research at the Villa Médicis on the subject of “Dance, modernity and abstraction, 1910-1930”.
