Jérôme Combier

Profession: Composer Born in 1971, Jérôme Combier first studied composition, writing, analysis and orchestration with Hacène Larbi. In 1997, he entered the composition class at the CNSMD in Paris, studying with Emmanuel Nunes and in the musical analysis class of Michaël Lévinas. His university studies also led him to complete a Master’s degree on Antòn Webern with Antoine Bonnet at the Université de Paris VIII (Le principe de variation chez Antòn Webern). In September 1998, he founded the ensemble Cairn, of which he is now artistic director. Jérôme Combier is a laureate of the Bleustein-Blanchet Foundation. In 2001-2002, he was selected to follow the composition and computer music course offered by Ircam. Since 2003, with the support of the Conservatoire de Paris, where he is currently enrolled in a post-graduate course, he has been developing his activities – composing and conducting – with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. A CD recently recorded by Ensemble Cairn has just been released by Motus.
