The Opera for Peace Academy concert brought together twelve young opera singers from around the world for a memorable evening dedicated to opera, international dialogue and peace. Artistic Director Kamal Khan will be accompanied on piano by one of the participating artists, Japanese pianist Naoki Hayashi.
Under the patronage of the European Investment Bank and in collaboration with the BNP Paribas Foundation and the City of Paris, the Opera for Peace Academy offers a unique opportunity for talented artists from countries such as China, South Korea, Japan, Ukraine, Russia, South Africa, the USA, Kosovo and France to take part in singing lessons, lectures, workshops and masterclasses, led by renowned icons of the international opera scene. The event marks a meeting of diverse musical cultures and a celebration of the universal beauty of opera. The program features some of the most famous arias, duets and ensembles in the repertoire – Puccini, Verdi, Rossini – and offers the public a few lesser-known surprises.
As part of the Opera for Peace 2024 Academy, from Monday April 15 to Friday April 19, Villa Medici will host fourteen emerging opera artists for a cycle of masterclasses, singing lessons, lectures and workshops. The collaboration between Villa Medici and Opera for Peace is founded on shared values such as artistic excellence, the promotion of young talent and openness to the world.
