Thomas Lévy-Lasne was born in Paris in 1980, and lives and works in Saint-Ouen. A graduate of the Beaux-Arts in Paris, he spent five years working for art critic Hector Obalk, filming all the museums of Europe for television.
Watercolors of celebrations, charcoals of demonstrations, erotic webcam drawings, oil paintings of urban solitude, he takes a classic approach to the most diverse and contemporary subjects. For the cinema, he played the lead role in Justine Triet’s multi-awarded (Berlinale, Angers, Brive…) medium-length film ” Vilaine fille, mauvais garçon “, collaborated on the screenplay for ” Victoria “, her second feature film, and directed his first short film ” Le Collectionneur ” (2017).
In 2014, he co-organized the colloquium ” La Fabrique de la peinture ” at the Collège de France as part of Professor Claudine Tiercelin’s chair, with 16 painters testifying to their practices, including Jeff Koons, Chéri Samba, Anne Neukamp and Jules de Balincourt.
He has been writing the Fine Art pages for fashion magazine CitizenK since 2016.
Her residency project at Villa Medici is to deepen her oil painting practice around the theme of human ways of inhabiting the world.
