Profession: Writer Stéphane Bouquet was born in Paris in 1967. He has published four books of “poetry” with Champ Vallon (as well as a translation of the American poet Robert Creeley,
Le Sortilège , published by Nous). He also wrote the scripts for (and starred in)
La Traversée , an autobiographical feature film, as well as screenplays for various films by Sébastien Lifshitz (
Presque rien ,
Wild side ,
les Terres froides ), Valérie Mréjen (
La Défaite
du rouge-gorge ) and Yann Dedet (
Le Pays du chien qui chante ), after having spent many years as a critic for
Cahiers du cinéma . He has published a study on
Pasolini’s L’Evangile selon Saint Mathieu and contributions to collective books on filmmakers Jacques Rozier, Chantal Akerman, Abbas Kiarostami, Béla Tarr, Rainer W. Fassbinder, Alexandre Sokourov, or on film theory. In 2002, as a dancer, he took part in Mathilde Monnier’s choreographic creation
Déroutes, and, as a scriptwriter, in her play
frère&s;œur, premiered at the 2005 Avignon Festival.
