Musical composition
Born in 1986 in Briançon and living in Paris, Sasha J. Blondeau is a composer. He studied composition at the CRR and then the CNSMD de Lyon before joining Ircam (Centre
Pompidou) from 2013 to 2017 for his doctorate. He has worked on the notions of compositional spaces and multiple times, and specializes in mixed music, combining
acoustic instruments and electronic music.
He has received commissions from Radio France, Wittener Tage Für Neue Kammermusik, Festival Musica, Festival Messiaen, Percussions de Strasbourg, GMEM and Françoise and Jean-Philippe Billarant for the 2017 Manifeste festival. His music has been performed by the Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Court-Circuit, Ensemble Talea, Les Percussions de Strasbourg, Ensemble Insomnio…
Future projects include collaborations with Hae-Sun Kang (Festival Messiaen 2019), Sarah Maria Sun and three soloists from the Musikfabrik ensemble (Festival Witten 2019) and the Quatuor Diotima.
Placing human sciences and philosophy at the heart of his approach as a composer, his project for the Villa Médicis borrows its form from the Warburgian atlas to bring to compositional terrain the notions of montage, tension, interval and multiplicity, with the intention of including the political in the musical field. Through several projects, he will be working on the creation of an Atlas-theater of uprisings.
