Biography

Léonard Martin, born in Paris in 1991, currently lives and works in Paris. After studying at the Beaux-Arts de Paris (graduating in 2015 with the jury’s congratulations) and Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains (graduating in 2017 with the jury’s congratulations), he has exhibited at the Salon de Montrouge, Jeune Création, La Villette and the Collection Lambert in Avignon.

His artistic practice establishes a dialogue between painting, animated film, puppet film and mechanical sculpture. His project for the Villa Medici residency is a free interpretation of the historical account of the Battle of San Romano, painted by Paolo Uccello around 1456, entrusted to life-size puppets on the site of the invention of perspective in the Italian Renaissance.

His previous work around James Joyce’s Ulysses was awarded the Prix de l’ADAGP – Révélation art numérique, art vidéo in 2017.
