Biography

Born in 1983 in Perpignan, David Douard lives and works in Aubervilliers. Language is the source of his work. The texts and poems he collects on the Internet are manipulated and transformed, becoming a vital flux that feeds his sculptures. In David Douard’s work, language acts as a material in its own right. In so doing, he redefines a new, hybrid social space in the throes of change. By injecting anonymous poems, always imbued with some form of chaos, deviance, illness or frustration, he recreates a contaminated environment parallel to the real world, augmented by the fantasy of new digital technologies.

His work has been the subject of solo and group exhibitions in international art centers and institutions, including: Kunstverein Braunschweig, Braunschweig, Germany (2016); Musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris, France (2015); Fridericianum, Kassel (2015); Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2014); Taipei Biennale (2014); Sculpture Center, New York, (2014); Astrup Fearnley Museet, Oslo (2014); 12th Biennale de Lyon, France (2013); Fondation d’entreprise Ricard, Paris (2012).
