Assaf Shoshan
Period: 2013-2014
Profession: Photographer Assaf Shoshan was born in Jerusalem in 1973. After studying philosophy, he entered the Bezalel School of Fine Arts. He has lived between Paris and Tel Aviv for over ten years. As a photographer and video artist, Assaf Shoshan examines the reality of his native country from both a historical and autobiographical perspective. He questions the strange political situation and everyday life there. Between reality and fiction, his latest works explore the “Territories of Waiting” that punctuate the journeys of emigrants and refugees in Israel and Palestine. Her residency at Villa Medici will be devoted to the companions of prisoners incarcerated in one of Rome’s oldest prisons, Regina Coeli. Her project
Peines Partagées (Shared Penalties) follows these groups of women who regularly meet in wild parlor settings in the Gianicolo gardens.
