On March 8, 2023, violinist Marina Chiche, currently currently in residence at Villa Médicisproposes Violino Sola, a voyage around writing for solo violin. She interweaves storytelling and acting, allowing us to (re)discover a work by Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho, as well as the repertoire of Johann Sebastian Bach and Eugène Ysaÿe.

Revealed to the general public thanks to the Victoires de la musique classique awards and her recordings, Marina Chiche pursues an international career in chamber music and as a soloist, accompanied by her 1762 Giuseppe Gagliano violin. An artist committed to her times, she is working, with her book Musiciennes de légende (published by First/Radio France) and her column on France Inter‘s “C’est encore Nous!”, she is working to make classical music accessible to as many people as possible.

As part of his residency at Villa Medicias a musician, musicologist and author, Marina Chiche is scouring the Académie’s archives to unearth the works of female composers who won the Prix de Rome.

Following her performance at Villa Medici, Marina Chiche will be signing her book Musiciennes de légende, in partnership with the Libreria Stendhal – Librairie française de Rome. On March 2, 2023, Marina Chiche will also be presenting her book at the Libreria Stendhal.
