Villa Medici is delighted to welcome musician Nkisi, Congolese-Belgian DJ, producer and composer, a major figure on the electronic scene and committed to ethnographic research. For the occasion, she invites Francesca Heart, now a fixture on the Italian experimental music scene. Together, they will perform an exceptional double set on the Bosco terrace, creating a resonant dialogue between their sonic explorations.
For this two-voice dj set, Villa Medici invites two female artists who dare to experiment with sound and unexpected references to traces of the past, for a genre marked by the contemporary. Nkisi renews her link with the traces of Italian traditions, both tangible and intangible. In 2021, she already completed a residency in Palermo, Sicily, bringing to life a concert at the Salinas Archaeological Museum, as part of the MainOFF electronic music festival, while immersing herself in the local culture.

She is co-founder of the now legendary NON Worldwide. She conducts research through her project The Anomaly Index, which explores sound phenomena, the science of myths, rhythm and vibration as counter-epistemologies. Her live sets are known for their intensity, linking the dance floor and the ritual site, while her compositions often draw on esoteric knowledge systems, Kongo cosmology and non-Western conceptions of time. Her work is motivated by the conviction that listening is a radical tool for reconfiguring our relationship with the earth and the cosmos. Through her albums released on Leaving Records, she approaches music with a passion for cinematic textures inspired by 80s and 90s composers such as Eric Serra, Joanna Brouk and Iasos, and the sounds of 2000s video games she played as a child with her brother. Alongside her productions, she teaches embodied methodologies. She trained in postmodern dance with Anna Halprin at the Tamalpa Institute (USA)....
