Villa Medici is hosting two performances of the dance piece "Lora", choreographed by Rachid Ouramdane, director of the Théâtre National de Chaillot. This solo is performed by Lithuanian dancer, Lora Juodkaitė. The show is presented by the Compagnie de Chaillot.

“Lora” tells the story of Lithuanian dancer Lora Juodkaite, who, since childhood, has developed a personal movement practice—spinning around and around, over and over, without ever losing her balance—a movement that accompanies her and brings her comfort.

In this solo piece, taken from the show “TORDRE”—which premiered in 2014 in Annecy as a work for two dancers—Rachid Ouramdane explores that delicate balance where movement oscillates between a poetic and a therapeutic dimension.

Unlike some of his earlier works, in which Rachid Ouramdane structured the staging around firsthand accounts, giving his performers a voice and a narrative framework, here it is through movement itself—through repeated gestures taken to the extreme—that the dancer’s story unfolds, without the need for words.
