A Creative Tour of Villa Medici with Roland Léléfan!

18.12.2021

In French

In 2020, the Villa Medici welcomed a new resident: his name is Roland, and he’s an elephant! Just like Ferdinand de’ Medici, Roland loves to collect things he finds beautiful, and he also has a vivid imagination, just like artists. How about we take a tour of the Villa Medici through the eyes of this little elephant?

Accompanied by Louise Mézel, a children’s book illustrator and creator of Roland Léléfan, and Lucie Laurent, a cultural mediator, the children explore the highlights of the Villa Medici and are invited to create their own work of art through a series of observation and drawing activities.

This 1.5-hour tour follows this itinerary: the statue of Louis XIV, the Belisarius Cistern, the Loggia, the vegetable garden or Balthus’s Garden, the studiolo, the plaster cast gallery, the statue of the Goddess Rome, the Belvedere, or the Bosco Terrace.
In case of rain, the tour will follow an alternative route including the apartments and the Galleries of Ferdinand de’ Medici.
