Each year, the French Academy in Rome - Villa Medici, through its art history department, welcomes researchers in residence, organizes meetings, colloquia and study days, conducts scientific projects and publishes art history research works. It also provides a large number of digital resources accessible to all.

RESEARCH AT THE VILLA MEDICI

Villa Medici is developing a dynamic research program in an international context, encouraging dialogue in the conduct of scientific research and the emergence of new perspectives in art history.

Editions

Villa Medici's editorial program is punctuated by the annual release of publications devoted to art history, such as the “Studiolo” magazine, dedicated to art history and the circulation of images from the Renaissance to the present day, and the “Actes” collection.

The library's holdings reflect the history and topicality of the disciplines represented at Villa Medici. Works cover the visual arts, architecture, art history, music, photography, cinema, literature and comic strips.

The tools and databases made available to researchers offer privileged access to the archives, collections, heritage and history of the French Academy in Rome - Villa Medici.
