"Winterreise" by Franz Schubert

On Friday, February 1, at 9:00 p.m., the Grand Salon of Villa Medici will host baritone Bruno Taddia and pianist Andrea Corazziari for a performance of Franz Schubert’s song cycle *Winterreise *. Composed between 1827 and 1828, this famous collection encompasses a musical universe of infinite nuances: a stripped-down, direct style of music that invites the listener on a journey from frozen landscapes to the ruthless introspection of the human soul, symbolized by the solitary traveler who is the protagonist of the 24 songs. The event will feature two internationally renowned performers. Pianist Andrea Corazziari, born in Rome in 1975 and a graduate of the “S. Cecilia” Conservatory, is a renowned specialist in the modern and contemporary repertoire; He teaches at the “Nadia and Lili Boulanger” Conservatory in Paris and has performed at Europe’s most prestigious festivals, in addition to his extensive teaching and recording activities. Baritone Bruno Taddia, born in Pavia and initially trained as a violinist before studying voice with Paolo Montarsolo, made his debut in 2001 at the Rossini Opera Festival and has since graced the stages of the world’s most prestigious theaters—including La Scala, the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, and the Liceu in Barcelona—collaborating with conductors of the caliber of Riccardo Muti, Gianluigi Gelmetti, and Roberto Abbado in both opera and the symphonic and chamber music repertoires.
