As part of the Stories of stones exhibition organized by the Académie de France à Rome – Villa Médicis, under the curatorship of Sam Stourdzé and Jean de Loisy, L’École des Arts Joailliers is offering a series of lectures dedicated to ornamental gems and the work of Roger Caillois (1913-1978), the French academician, essayist and passionate collector of minerals behind his texts Pierres, La lecture des pierres and Agates paradoxales. These lectures will be led by Jean de Loisy, curator of the Histoires de pierres exhibition, Marie-Laure Cassius-Duranton, gemmologist, art historian and teacher-researcher at L’École des Arts Joailliers, and Céline Gaslain, EAJ lecturer and jewelry historian. A meeting with Pierre Adrian, French writer and resident at the Villa Médicis, will be held on January 11, 2024, in the presence of Marie-Laure Cassius-Duranton. It will be devoted to Pierre Adrian’s journal Saintes Pierres de Rome, 20 flâneries depuis la Villa Médicis (2023, Villa Médicis and Éditions Jonglez).
