A Date with the Night

The series “The History of Film Noir in 8 Installments,” curated by Nicolas Saada, offers a journey through eight classics to show how this movement—understood not as a genre or style, but as a true artistic movement similar to the Baroque or Impressionism—has evolved from the stylization of studio productions to an almost documentary-like photographic realism. The screenings will take place every Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., from February 13 to April 2, featuring 35mm film screenings in the original English with Italian subtitles. The program includes: “Vertigo” (Laura, 1944, 88′) by Otto Preminger on February 13, “They Live By Night” (1947, 95′) by Nicholas Ray on February 20, “The Set Up” (The Set Up, 1949, 72′) by Robert Wise on February 27, Panic in the Streets (1950, 96′) by Elia Kazan on March 5, *Kiss Me Deadly* (1955, 105′) by Robert Aldrich on March 12, “The Asphalt Jungle” (1950, 112′) by John Huston on March 19, “While the City Sleeps” (1956, 100′) by Fritz Lang on March 26, and “Touch of Evil” (1958, 112′) by Orson Welles on April 2.
