Profession: Composer Xavier Dayer, born in Geneva in 1972, studied composition in his hometown with Eric Gaudibert, then with Tristan Murail and Brian Ferneyhough in Paris (IRCAM). Winner of several composition prizes, including the Bürgi-Willert Foundation Prize awarded by Heinz Holliger and the Sandoz Foundation FEMS Prize awarded by Henri Dutilleux. Author of works for the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Paris, Festival d’Automne de Paris, IRCAM, Ensemble Contrechamps and many other ensembles and soloists. Teaches composition and theory at the Bern University of the Arts (HKB / HEAB). Head of the “Master in Composition and Theory” course there from 2009. Resident at the Académie de France in Rome – Villa Médicis in 2008 – 2009. His music is published by Editions Papillon and Editions BIM.
