Profession: Composer Born in July 1972. In 1997, he obtained a Premier Prix in Composition (with Gérard Grisey) and a Premier Prix in Improvisation (with Alain Savouret) at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris. Several institutions have commissioned and/or performed his works: the Orchestre National de Lyon, Ina-GRM, Radio-France, Ensemble Court-circuit, Ensemble l’Itinéraire, Ensemble 2e2m, Ministère de la Culture, Percussions de Strasbourg, Ariam-Ile-de-France, Ensemble Ictus… He also pursues a career as an improviser (8 pianos and electronic keyboard), and has been a guest at numerous festivals in France. In January 2000, together with Benjamin de la Fuente, he founded the ensemble
Sphota, whose vocation is collective musical research, with particular emphasis on the use of new technologies and collaboration with other artistic disciplines in the context of live performance.
Sphota has performed at several festivals and recorded an album. He has also composed for the stage, for dance (Mandy Rabin, Marion Levy…) and for film (fiction and documentaries). In addition to composing and improvising, he has been working for several years on projects combining video and music (several short and medium-length films).
