Profession: Composer Composer, pianist and conductor, Raffaele Grimaldi was born in 1980. He graduated from the Conservatorio di Musica G. Martucci in Salerno (piano and  composition) and from the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome (top grade in composition). Winner of numerous prizes at national and international competitions, he has attended masterclasses with Salvatore Sciarrino, Brian Ferneyhough, Ivan Fedele, GeorgesAperghis, Michael Jarrell, Marco Stroppa and Bruno Mantovani. His compositions have been performed in Europe, the United States, Japan, Russia and Australia, broadcast on international radio programs and performed by world-renowned orchestras, ensembles and soloists. He was selected by IRCAM for the Cursus en “Formations à la composition et à l’informatique musicale” (2008/09), and was a resident at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. He has a keen interest in painting, poetry and philosophy. He is co-founder of the blog www.nuthing.eu where he publishes his writings on contemporary music.
