Profession: Art historian Clément Chéroux is a photography historian with a doctorate in art history. His current research focuses on the appropriation by the historical avant-garde of visual models from amateur, scientific and pseudo-scientific photography. In Rome, he is working on the Futurist photographer Anton Giulio Bragaglia. He has also published L’Expérience photographique d’August Strindberg (Actes Sud, 1994), Fautographie, petite histoire de l’erreur photographique (Yellow Now, 2003), Fotografie und Geschichte (Institut für Buchkunst, 2004) and edited the catalogs for the exhibitions Mémoire des camps. Photographies des camps de concentration et d’extermination nazis, 1933-1999 (Marval, 2001) and Le troisième œil. La photographie et l’occulte (Gallimard, 2004), which he also curated.
