Chiara Malta
Period: 2013-2014
Profession: Filmmaker Born in Rome in 1977, Chiara Malta studied literature and cinema before moving to Paris and starting to shoot her own films. “Armando e la politica” opened the “Lo Stato delle Cose” section at the 26th Torino Film Festival, before being broadcast on La Lucarne Arte/ZDF. Her short films are broadcast on France2 and Canal+, and have won awards at numerous festivals (Clermont-Ferrand, Aix-en-Provence, États généraux de Lussas, FIF Rome, Nuovo Cinema di Pesaro, Las Palmas, Rio de Janeiro, FFM Montréal….). As part of her residency at Villa Médicis, she will be writing a film based on her encounter with actress Elina Löwensohn. After Armando e la politica, she continues to question the status of truth in cinema, and here tells the story of a director/actress duo, a Romanian and a Romanian. The story of a filmmaker who goes astray. A cruel, light-hearted comedy about the dangers of projection in our relationship with others.
