Musical composition

Biography

Aurélien Dumont holds a doctorate in musical composition from the SACRe program at the École Normale Supérieure de Paris (PSL) and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he studied with Gérard Pesson. He also studied at IRCAM, where he completed courses 1 and 2 in composition and computer music. His music, which emerges from the tension between objects conceived as language bricks (Roland Barthes), questions the notion ofotherness as defined by philosopher François Jullien, as a possible way of apprehending the complexity of our contemporary world. Winner of several international competitions and prestigious prizes (Prix Pierre Cardin de l’Académie des Beaux-Arts, Prix San Fedele de Milan, etc.), his works are played around the world by renowned performers ; his first monographic disc “While”, released in September 2015, was acclaimed by critics and received the Coup de Coeur de l’Académie Charles Cros.
