Les Siestes is a French festival that likes to invite emerging artists. For the Festival des Cabanes de la Villa Médicis, Les Siestes explores the revival of the ambient scene, which redistributes the environmental imaginary by telescoping club, chamber and network.

Let the gardens of Villa Medici inspire you and your family to build the tree house of your dreams! This open-air workshop invites you to design and build your own tree house using sustainable materials: an invitation to unleash your imagination and creativity, always bearing in mind the ecological dimension of construction.

Location: Pavillon Ça joue (DREAM)
How can we explore the multiplicity of possible paths within this cabin through dance? Movement crosses the porosity of thresholds and questions the limits of interiority, with, in the hollow, other breaths on the bangs of our European dreams.

– 6pm-7pm – Guided tour of the cabins by their architects (in French and English)
Meet in front of each cabin to chat with architects from the DREAM, KOZ and WALD agencies, and students from the Master in Political Arts (SPEAP) program at Sciences Po and the École des Arts Décoratifs.

– 7pm-8pm – Deborah Levy reading with Marielle Macé
Location: Carré des Niobides
British author and poet Deborah Levy offers a reading of the finest pages from her latest works, in the enchanted atmosphere of the carré des Niobides, in the heart of the historic gardens of Villa Medici. The “writing hut” is at the heart of all her works, including her three-volume autobiography, Things I Don’t Want to Know, The Cost of Living and Real Estate. On this occasion, she will be in dialogue with Marielle Macé.

– 8-8:30pm – À même le tremblement : performance by Marion Collé
Location: Pavillon Sous le Pin (KOZ)
Marion Collé, circus artist and poet, creates poems on the wire that express the desire to hold on, even in the midst of trembling. Stretching out the threads and dancing on them is a way of blending into the landscape, making its intimate vibrations felt, and drawing lines of writing in space that are so many shared, open and sensitive horizons. Accompanied by circus artists Giuseppe Germini and Vasil Tasevski, Marion Collé presents À même le tremblement, a performance inspired by the poems in her collection Être fil.

– 8pm-9pm – Banquets des Vestiges: ritual by Christianne Pit and Martin Huot with the participation of chef-in-residence Zuri Camille de Souza

“Celebrating our fruits, those of the landscape that surrounds us, we will walk with them through the gardens, from the kitchen to our hands. Here, in our hut, our gathering will be built step by step, as we meet, eat, share and dwell.”

In this two-part show, Sophie Jégou and Thierry Miroglio bring together percussion, dance and digital arts to highlight the architecture and spaces of the Pavillon Ça joue designed by the Dream agency. With Italian creations by composers Marta Gentilucci and Hèctor Parra, residents of Villa Médicis, and Fausto Sebastiani, Xu Yi, Paulo C. Chagas, choreographic gestures, rhythms and sound colors inhabit and resonate with the structure’s interior and exterior volumes.

– 8:30-9pm – Sans toi comme un jardin sans personne: performance-déambulation by Nàto Bosc-Ducros
Venue:Pavillon Banquets des vestiges (SPEAP – École des Arts Décoratifs)
Sans toi comme un jardin sans personne is a performance sculpture accompanied by a poem. The wandering of the living sculpture calls forth the energies of artists, poets of passage and the living, who form a community of relationships within the gardens of Villa Medici.
