Biography

Stéphanie Solinas, born in 1978 in France, is a visual artist, author and researcher. Her work is multi-faceted, combining photography, books and installations. Exploring the weaving of the visible and invisible, of rationality and belief, that shapes identities, her field of investigation spans the 19th to 21st centuries, from the birth of photography to artificial intelligence. A Doctor of Arts, Solinas was fellow of Villa Medici (2017-201818). Her work has been exhibited at SFMOMA and Getty Museum in the USA, FOAM in Amsterdam, Centre Pompidou, Jeu de Paume, Rencontres d’Arles in France. She has published several books, including L’Être plus and Guide du Pourquoi Pas ? published by Seuil.

Project

Her residency project will be devoted to a work of writing taking as material the research she carried out as fellow of Villa Medici in 2017-2018 and since: her investigations and interviews on the concrete forms we have to access the spiritual, between visible and invisible, notably through the mystery of the miracle.
