Biography

Sesilia Decolli (1991, Albania) has been a doctoral student in Art History at the École Pratique des Hautes Études – PSL since 2023, in cotutelle with Ca’ Foscari University in Venice. Her scientific interests focus on Venetian painting during the Renaissance. Her thesis project, entitled “De pictura in theatro et de theatro in pictura”: correspondence between painting and theater in Venice in the 15th and 16th centuries, explores the interactions between painting, humanist thought and theatrical scenes through an interdisciplinary approach. She has also been awarded a residency at the Maison Française d’Oxford, which she will join in April 2026.

Since 2001, the French Academy in Rome and the École française de Rome have been awarding 8 Daniel Arasse fellowships each year for missions in art history. Starting in 2021, these fellowships are intended for French-speaking doctoral and post-doctoral researchers (for a 1st post-doctoral fellowship) in art history wishing to travel to Rome to carry out research in Roman institutions and/or elsewhere in Italy on the modern and contemporary period. There is no nationality requirement.
