Biography

Lucile Littot is a French multidisciplinary artist born in Paris in 1985. She has exhibited at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the Museo de Arte de Zapopan in Mexico, and the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard in Paris. Markos Mazarakis-Ainian is a Greek musician and composer born in 1985 in Athens. He is a member of the Greek psychedelic-rock band Acid Baby Jesus, formed in 2009. At the same time, he is developing a solo project under the pseudonym “Theremin Jennings”. Their duo “Adieu Dolorès” was formed in 2022 after an encounter on the Aegean Sea. Lucile Littot’s lyrics, written in open skies between Los Angeles, Mexico and Athens, are conceived as a collection of whimsical poetry. The melodies in this anthology are composed and produced by Markos Mazarakis-Ainian, and merge through the blending of voices. Through the visual and plastic arts, “Adieu Dolorès”, an experimental and sentimental baroque pop duo, pays tribute to the mythical figures of cinema and literature, to flayed divas and disenchanted generations. A labyrinthine odyssey along the paths of a romanticized autobiography. Their first joint work, entitled “Conte du Cygne et Sept Autres Histoires Extraordinaires”, was presented in summer 2022 in the gardens of the Château du Marais in Val Saint Germain.

Project

In residence at Villa Médicis, Lucile Littot and Markos Mazarakis-Ainian will produce a video work entitled “Midnight is gone”. Its narrative scheme is inspired by the scenic codes of Commedia Dell’Arte and Italian Mannerist cinema known as “giallo”. The video work will then form an integral part of their performative installation “La Nuit tous les chats sont Gris”.
