Biography

Eve George (1992, France) is a designer and glassblower. Trained at the École Boulle and then the École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle, she went on to specialize in cane glassblowing. In 2017, with Laurent Fichot, she co-founded Atelier George, a hybrid space between glassblowing workshop and design studio. The duo develops work around the object, nourished by an aesthetic research of glass decor and questioning the multiplication of the work by tool and gesture. In 2023, Eve is a resident at the Villa Albertine in New York. There, she confirmed a glass practice that blends the artistic fields of design and installation.

Project

During her residency at Villa Medici, Eve George will focus on research into lighting inspired by the natural structures of fruits and seeds. The project explores their biological and formal principles – imbrication, modularity, dissemination – in order to imagine lighting typologies that can be adapted. This research extends her work on modular molds: like nature, which composes interlocking forms, she seeks an organic rationality in the production tool and the forms it generates. A second axis explores murrhine, highlighting the visual parallel between the Italian technique of millefiori and the patterns revealed when fruit and shells are cut.
