Boni

Boni is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and screenwriter. Trained in classical music and jazz at the conservatory, he studied mathematics and composition at McGill University (Montreal) before continuing his education at UCLA (Los Angeles). He composes for film, performance, and the visual arts, collaborating notably with Dior, Lafayette Anticipation, Mediawan, and Radio France. He is the co-author of the graphic novel Detroit Roma, winner of the France Télévisions Villa Médicis Comic Book Award, as well as the Fnac, Les Inrockuptibles, ELLE, and RTBF Awards. He has developed a distinctive musical style, with eleven albums to his credit. His next album, scheduled for release in 2027, will mark a shift toward orchestrated folk music.

Boni will work on three projects during his residency at Villa Medici: writing an adaptation of the graphic novel Detroit Roma as a film or animated film, writing a new graphic novel to be published by Sarabacane in 2028, and finally, writing and composing new songs for his personal music project.
