Biography

Aline Deschamps, a Franco-Thai artist, works on geopolitical issues, migration dynamics and issues of representation through photography and video. A graduate in international relations (La Sorbonne) and digital media (École d’art publique de la Ville de Paris), she weaves together intimate and political narratives, where the personal reveals the universal. Juggling a documentary approach and contemporary photography, her work aims to visually deconstruct the traditional representations attached to her subjects, and invites us to construct a new collective imaginary. Aline lives between Paris and Beirut.

Project

Aline Deschamps performs an introspective quest to uncover a forgotten part of her memory. A few numbers and a few words are the cornerstone that would open the door to her virtual safe. In a post-documentary approach, Aline crosses the threads of personal experience with those of global history: the rise of crypto-currencies, the darknet, and the extreme volatility of the Bitcoin bubble. Exploring technological and subconscious avenues to access her blockchain, Aline constructs a transdisciplinary project that resembles a contemporary treasure hunt, revealing the serendipity of youth and the absurdity of modern economic bubbles.
