From the villa of Lucullus to the palace of Honorius, from the casino of Cardinal Giovanni Ricci da Montepulciano to the villa of Ferdinand de’ Medici, the Villa Medici, home to the Académie de France in Rome since 1803, conceals, in its stones, materials and surfaces, several intersecting narratives. The contributions in this volume, from the fields of art and architecture history, restoration and archaeology, as well as literature, pay close attention to the traces preserved in the materials and their multiple stresses. Through their diverse approaches, these texts invite us to explore the Villa Medici by rediscovering its material ecosystem, where non-linear regimes of temporality are superimposed, inviting us to reconsider our own relationship with history and heritage sites. Texts by Francesca Alberti, Adrián Fernández Almoguera, Matthias Bruno, Hortense de Corneillan, Lucilla Fabrizi, Pierre-Antoine Gatier, Vincent Jolivet, Gaëlle Obiégly, Elisabetta Pallottino, Clément Périssé, Neville Rowley, Ariane Varela Braga.
