The work carried out by researchers in the Carracci ConservArt project (2022-2026) has opened up new avenues of research, thanks to the analysis of previously unpublished data collected during the most recent restoration of the Galerie des Carracci (2015). This second meeting, open to the public, will focus on the famous corpus of preparatory drawings by Agostino and Annibale Carracci. Art historians and restorers invited for the occasion will present, alongside the project’s researchers, concrete examples of the Carracci brothers’ modus operandi, based on comparative studies of the results of technical analyses, attribution, the history of the drawings and the fortunes of these exceptional sheets. The days will conclude with a round-table discussion led by leading experts on the Carracci graphic corpus.
