Saturday June 7 and Sunday June 8, as part of the Italian national event Appuntamenti in giardino, Villa Medici is offering visitors an exceptional tour of its gardens, on the theme of stones!

The Appuntamenti in giardino event, which aims to invite the general public to discover the historical, artistic, botanical and landscape wealth of Italian gardens, will be an opportunity to showcase the gardens of Villa Medici in a new light.

The Villa Medici, home to the Académie de France in Rome since 1803, conceals in its stones, materials and surfaces many intertwining and superimposed histories. Witness to the passage of centuries, it was in turn the villa of Lucullus, the palace of Honorius, the casino of Cardinal Giovanni Ricci da Montepulciano, before becoming the villa of Ferdinand di Medici.

This tour takes us on a journey through the Villa Medici, rediscovering its material ecosystem and superimposing non-linear temporal regimes, inviting us to reconsider our relationship with history and heritage sites.
