This discussion brings together Pier Paolo Pancotto, curator, and Chiara Squarcina, head of the Palazzo Mocenigo Museum in Venice, to discuss the exhibition Es-senzecurrently on view in the Palazzo. This exchange will provide an opportunity to look back at the work of the artists on show (Mircea Cantor, Mateusz Choròbski, Bruna Esposito, Eva Marisaldi, Giuseppe Penone, Paola Pivi, Namsal Siedlecki, Achraf Touloub, Nico Vascellari…), who have a close connection with Villa Medici. Indeed, most of their work has been presented in the Art Club series of exhibitions at the Académie de France in Rome, also curated by Pier Paolo Pancotto. Both the Es-senze exhibition and the Art Club series seek to create a dialogue between the works of international contemporary artists and the heritage sites that host them, such as the Palazzo Mocenigo and the Villa Medici. This event will allow the two guests to reflect on the experimental nature of the Venetian exhibition, where perfume is at the heart of a multi-sensory journey.
The Es-senze exhibition runs until November 27, 2022 at the Palazzo Mocenigo Museum in Venice.
Pier Paolo Pancotto has curated the Art Club exhibition program at Villa Medici since 2016.
