“At the crossroads of various practices, Pierre Alferi’s films are first and foremost an extension of his work as a writer, around which they develop a dreamlike universe made up of afterimages, murmurs and distended temporalities.” François Piron, art critic

Rodolphe Burger and Pierre Alferi have been partners since their respective beginnings in music and songwriting. Under the name Thomas Lago, Pierre Alferi was the main lyricist for Rodolphe Burger’s band Kat Onoma throughout the 90s. When he published his river novel Le cinéma des familles, he commissioned him to write the music for “films parlants”, then sound poems (“Parle-moi”, “Grand écart”), and finally the first “cinépoèmes”. The “films parlants” are cinema sequences seen through the eyes of memory and dreams, scenes reread and elevated to the status of fantasies. Cinépoèmes” are texts for the screen, with modes of appearance and reading closely linked to music.

Created first and foremost for the stage, this repertoire has never ceased to evolve with each performance. Today’s program, Cinépoèmes Live, invites you to a selective re-reading of this repertoire. Cinépoèmes Live. Roles are constantly redistributed between projected image, poetry, song, editing and music, between improvisation and recording. The musician and writer occupy several positions, re-enacting the scene of primitive cinema and inviting us to an unheard-of “séance”.
