Self-guided tour with reservation required by time slot. Length of self-guided tour: 30 minutes. Outdoor tour of the Villa Medici gardens.

Initiated in 2016, the Art Club series continues to take you to meet international contemporary artists in a spirit of openness to the most varied forms of creation.

Curated by Pier Paolo Pancotto, this autumn Art Club #31 presents the work of artist Namsal Siedlecki (b. 1986, Greenfield, USA; based in Seggiano, IT). His research focuses on organic and inorganic materials in everyday life. He analyzes them in both their primitive and artificial states, modified by the action of endogenous agents (genetic evolution of natural substances) and exogenous agents (human intervention or other external factors). From the outset, like a modern alchemist, Namsal Siedlecki has explored a wide variety of materials (metal, leather, parchment, wax, glass, ash, ice, salt…) and technical solutions for their transformation. The works selected for Villa Medici bear witness to the links between his research: from the electroplating vat used to transform sculptures, to giant gourds with their galvanized seeds, to ice pedestals melting under the effect of salt or bronze heads made from coins collected in the Trevi fountain.
