Associated each year with several regions the Résidence Pro takes as its common thread a field of know-how to explore all its technical, social, craft and artistic expressions. The pedagogical approach is as follows connected to the skills developed through career pathsa showcase for the talents of high school students and their teaching teams.
From the start of the school year, with the support of the project’s teaching teams and a specially-designed digital resource platform, each class imagines and documents a collective work inspired by a major heritage work in the city of Rome.
The 300 young people spend a week immersed in the Italian capital, with the Villa Medici as the central venue for a program of workshops, lectures and hands-on experience. The program is supervised by mediators and led by professionals: journalists, art historians, artists, entrepreneurs, experts… Their stay of a few days in an institution like Villa Medici, which welcomes artists in residence from all disciplines, also encourages them to open up to the artistic and cultural world. It’s a week of discovery, conviviality and exchange. During their week of exploration in the field, high school students and apprentices make several visits to Roman sites they have studied during the year, take part in workshops and meetings with professionals, not forgetting the festive moments that punctuate the week.
The high-school students are committed to sharing their vision and experience, and to becoming passers-by, by producing a capsule that makes up a collective visual and audio map of Rome, rich in the experiences and know-how of each group, and by organizing a sharing of their experience in the form of their choice. Screenings, tastings, concerts, workshops: each class draws up a program for a unique festive event to be held at their school.
The Résidence Pro program is not open to applications and is aimed at young people from partner regions.
