Villa Medici Festival des Cabanes | 2024 Edition
From 22 May to 29 September 2024
Ephemeral installations, micro-architectures, proto-habitats: six original creations of “cabanes” will be installed throughout the summer in the heart of the gardens of the Villa Medici!
For the third year since its creation in 2022, the Villa Medici Festival des Cabanes returns for the whole summer and invites architects, artists and builders to move into the historic gardens of the Villa Medici.
The idea of a cabin, from which the festival gets its name, is the starting point for a dialogue between architects, artists, designers and landscape gardeners based around different issues: how can we create non-invasive architectural forms? What about sustainable housing solutions for tomorrow?
The 6 projects have been specially designed for the Festival by international collectives of architects, builders and students: ane architecture, Manuel Bouzas, CAMPO & DIPLOMA 20 ARCHITECTURAL ASSOCIATION, pratique architecture, HUTTOPIA and LAMÉCOL.
Assembled over several weeks, these temporary buildings meet the timeless tranquillity of the historical gardens. Made from wood or reused materials, some blend in perfectly with the vegetation, while the curves of others loom over the hedges. A stroll from cabin to cabin is a new way to experience Villa Medici’s gardens.

Monday to Sunday (closed on Tuesdays) between 10am and 7pm (last entry at 6.30pm)
