Solène Wachter
Solène Wachter (1996) is a dancer and choreographer from the Hautes-Pyrénées.
She began her training at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris before joining PARTS (Performing Arts Research and Training Studios). In 2018, she joined Boris Charmatz’s creation 10000 Gestes, with whom she has continued to collaborate ever since. She also works with Ashley Chen, Maud Lepladec, Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker and Nemo Flouret. In 2019, together with Georges Labbat and Némo Flouret, she set up the BleuPrintemps artistic platform, a structure now associated with the Ménagerie de Verre (Paris). In 2022, she created the solo FOR YOU/NOT FOR YOU, and is currently working on a new creation.
Her project at Villa Medici
Her residency project at Villa Medici will be devoted to the search for materials, inspiration and references for her next choreographic creation: “Machine à Spectacle”. This laboratory period will see the birth of the first steps of a work around the stuntman’s profession, the close links it forges with dance, its relationship to virtuosity, violence, anonymity and risk-taking. It will also be an opportunity for her to continue the research she began with FOR YOU / NOT FOR YOU on the backstage and the hidden sides of what we perceive as “entertainment”.
