Period: 2015-2016
Profession: Composer Born in 1979, Jackson Fourgeaud, a.k.a. Jackson, is a musician, researcher, adept at hybridization. Discovered for his music as Jackson And His Computerband, he signed two albums for the English label Warp Records (
SMASH in 2005 and
GLOW in 2014). These creations reflect his taste for the deconstruction of musical genres and the combining of writing and exploration. In 2014, Jackson conceived and designed the “Computerband,” an electronic instrumental complex he presented during an international tour and in many music festivals (Sonar, Melt, Summer Sonic, Today’s Art, Villa Aperta … ). After a warm reception from the public and the critics, Jackson has continued creating and inventing other musical instruments assembled in the “Instrumentarium”. This electro-acoustic laboratory was presented in 2015 at IRCAM (Ircamlive) and at the exhibition
Au fur et à mesure (travaux in situ et situés) by Daniel Buren in Paris and at Palazzo Tiepolo in Venice for the opening of the Biennale. He has given a series of performances entitled
Light Metal Music for the French gallery Kamel Mennour. These performances are based on sculptures that transmit the sound of mist, flux, algorithms, as well as a transformation of the light spectrum into sound waves. During Jackson’s sojourn at Villa Medici he will create an opera,
Operator , where the human voice is replaced by the sonification of particles and the sound generated, inter alia, by a fluid of molecules.
