Born in May 1969 at Lons Le Saunier, Géraldine Kosiak studied at the École Supérieure des Beaux Arts in Lyons. Dozens of her written and illustrated books have been published. She has also taken part in divers group exhibitions and organized numerous personal exhibitions. Her most recent book Au travail was published in September 2013 by Éditions Les Cahiers Dessinés, attempts to answer the question: “How do writers work?” By evoking their preparatory dossiers and rough drafts, their travels, their dreams… Géraldine Kosiak restores brief portraits of the authors she has chosen and who end up by representing her, the reader turned narrator.

The project she wants to develop during the residency at Villa Medici is a graphic narration, inspired by the European automobile industry epic describing a part of the metamorphosis of Europe through three European leaders of this branch: FIAT, PSA Peugeot Citroën and Volkswagen. This industrial and human epos leads us from the end of the XIXth century to the present day. It is a sort of Bildungsroman where the human adventure develops itself in artistic and literary history, accompanied by a constellation of mythical sites and characters.
