Requests for filming and photography at Villa Medici

The French Academy in Rome – Villa Medici periodically hosts filming or photography by third parties, making the Villa Medici the setting for films of all lengths, commercials, documentaries, photo shoots, etc.

Requests for filming or photography must be sent to the French Academy in Rome at least six weeks before the desired filming or shooting date.

Applicants must fill in an application form which can be downloaded from this link and send it by email to [email protected] 

On request, a preliminary location scouting can be arranged.

Filming is subject to the payment of a fee calculated according to the pricing policy adopted by the Board of Administration of the French Academy in Rome for filming and photography at Villa Medici. To this fee must be added the technical, personnel and security costs, particularly those related to reception, surveillance, cleaning and coordination during filming or shooting. These are costs incurred by the Academy to ensure the preparation and smooth running of the filming and to guarantee the integrity of the Villa Medici’s heritage. The fee, as well as technical, security and personnel costs, are payable by the applicant and must be paid by bank transfer before the start of filming.

Once the applicant has approved the Villa Medici’s pricing and organisational conditions, the Academy will send him/her a filming agreement to be signed and returned before the start of the filming or shooting.
