La Nuit des Cabanes is a major summer event in the gardens of Villa Medici. A festive and artistic event, the Nuit des Cabanes explores the poetic and convivial dimension of the cabin as a place of hospitality at the crossroads of disciplines.

The program includes educational activities, performances, readings, concerts and activations of cabanes by artists and researchers in residence at Villa Medici, as well as a series of guests from the French and international art scene.

The Nuit des Cabanes program is designed in collaboration with Librairie 7L (Paris), the IUNO collective (Rome) and Threes Productions (Milan).

IL FESTIVAL DES CABANES DI VILLA MEDICI

For the third year since its creation in 2022, the Villa Medici Festival des Cabanes returns for the whole summer and invites architects, artists and builders to move into the historic gardens of the Villa Medici.

This year, six original “huts” will be set up in the gardens:

• Il tempietto designed by ane architecture (prize winning project for the Festival des cabanes des Sources du lac d’Annecy)
• The Cabane 7L and librairie 7L X Villa Medici designed by Manuel Bouzas
• Studiolo designed by CAMPO & Diploma 20 Architectural Association
• La cahutte designed by Camille Blanc (de signes associés) and Philippe Bossanne (HUTTOPIA)
• Fleximob designed by Lamécol
• Le Forum des vestiges designed by pratique architecture & fanum architecture (prize winning project for the Festival des cabanes des Sources du lac d’Annecy)
• Tutto Sesto designed by Aurel Design Urbain

FELLOWS EXHIBITION I A PIÙ VOCI

La Nuit des Cabanes is scheduled as part of the residents’ exhibition A PIÙ VOCI from June 8 to September 8, 2024.

As it does every year in the run-up to summer, the Académie de France in Rome brings together in a group exhibition the projects of the sixteen boarders at the end of their year of residence at the Villa Medici. On this occasion, the works leave the intimacy of the studios and move to the exhibition halls, where they will be visible to the public.
