Acid Arab
A product of the Parisian transcultural scene, the Franco-Algerian collective is the result of a meeting between Pierre-Yves Casanova, Nicolas Borne, Hervé Carvalho, Guido Minisky and Kenzi Bourras.
After a series of compilations released as EPs on the Versatile label, they signed with Crammed Discs and released their debut album ‘Musique de France‘ in 2016. The group went on to perform several hundred times, in over fifty countries on four continents. Their second album, “Jdid“, will be released at the end of 2019.
Acid Arab’s long-awaited third album was released in February 2023. Entitled “٣ (Trois)“, it consists of ten tracks made for the dancefloor, combined with sophisticated production and intriguing and varied performances by eight guest singers from North Africa, Syria and Turkey, including Cem Yldiz, Cheb Halim, Sofiane Saidi and Rachid Taha.
From Algerian gasba to Anatolian trance, via synthetic dabkeh, bionic raï and many other styles, real or imagined, Acid Arab has incorporated a range of colours, breaking down the boundaries between genres.
