Theatre of Exhibitions #6

The sixth edition of the Theatre of Exhibitions takes place from February 27 to April 12, 2015 (opening on Thursday 26 February 2015, 6:30-8:30 p.m.) at Villa Medici. This event unites the projects of the artists and scholars in residence at the French Academy in Rome during the years 2014-2015, representing a moment of encounter between the fellows, the city of Rome and its inhabitants. This edition has been reconsidered following new principles: no longer an event organized over a few days as in the past, rather it is an authentic multidisciplinary exhibition hosting the works of the 18 fellows presently residing at Villa Medici in the Grandes Galeries . The exhibition also features a series of events scheduled every Thursday evening. As in 2014, Theatre of Exhibitions is curated by Claudio Libero Pisano, who through a continuous dialogue with the fellows, has developed an itinerary related to Time and its conception, particularly in connection with creative thought and art. Entitled Taking Time, this edition refers to the need to “reclaim the richness of time, abandoning pre-established routes to return to the essence of things in order to stop or slow down. Taking time means restoring value and responsibility to things.” Together with the events scheduled on Thursdays, visitors will also be able to go on guided tours of the exhibition (Saturdays, at 3 p.m. in French, at 3.30 p.m. in Italian). They will also be able to visit the The Secret Venues of Creativity , an itinerary where they will learn the history of the fellows of today and yesterday by visiting the lesser-known sites of Villa Medici every Sunday. Admittance free Opening hours : Tuesday to Sunday (closed on Mondays) 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (last admission 6:30 p.m.) Exhibition tours : On Saturday at 3:00 p.m. (in French) and at 3:30 p.m. (in Italian)
