The conference is organized by Mario Bevilacqua, Clare Hornsby and Francesca Alberti.

Following the celebrations of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Giovanni Battista Piranesi, this conference aims to reveal new aspects of his life and works, their contexts and critical fortune and we are seeking proposals for a comparison of interdisciplinary themes and innovative methodologies.

Alain Schnapp is professor emeritus of archaeology at the University of Paris I and researcher at the Maison de l’archéologie et de l’ethnologie Paris I / Paris Ouest / CNRS. His work focuses on the archaeology of Greek cities, iconography and the history of archaeology. He has taught at many European and American universities and was the first Director General of INHA. He is the author of numerous publications including Une histoire universelle des ruines published in 2020 by Editions du Seuil.
