Gaylord Brouhot

Born in 1981 in Paris, Gaylord Brouhot is an art historian.

Holder of a doctorate in art history and a Brevet de Technicien Supérieur in fashion design, Gaylord Brouhot received the “Prix de l’Université” from the Val-de-Marne Departmental Council for his thesis entitled Le portrait du costume: une esthétique du pouvoir médicéen (1537-1609), currently being published. Since 2008, he has been teaching art history and the history of fashion and decorative arts. He has organized several conferences on art in France, Italy and the Netherlands between the 15th and 18th centuries and in 2019 he co-edited the collective work Il sogno d’arte di François I^er. L’Italie à la cour de France.

His project at the Villa Medici aims at demonstrating that there is an interaction between the fashion staged on the portraits of Christine de Lorraine and Maria de Medici and their joint actions in Tuscany and France to boost the international luxury economy and shape a media image exclusive to the Medici.
